Joy Lawson

Social Impact & Community Coaching

Joy helps coaches explore how their skills can contribute to something beyond their conventional client work, from supporting particular communities to becoming involved in charities, social enterprises and other purpose-led initiatives.

Her work is for coaches who want to make a difference but may not know where to begin. Rather than treating social impact as simply giving coaching away for free, Joy helps coaches think carefully about where coaching can genuinely be useful, how to find worthwhile opportunities, and how social-impact work can become a sustainable and meaningful part of their wider practice.

“
“My aim is straightforward: to help coaches find meaningful ways to use what they know and what they can do in service of people, communities and causes they care about.”

Areas of work

Joy’s work within the studio includes:

Social impact

Exploring the different ways coaching can contribute to positive change for individuals, communities and wider society.

Finding your cause

Identifying the issues, communities and areas of change that genuinely matter to you.

Community coaching

Understanding how coaching can be offered within communities that may have limited access to conventional coaching services.

Charities and social enterprises

Exploring opportunities to work with organisations whose primary purpose is social rather than commercial.

Finding opportunities

Identifying organisations, initiatives and partnerships where coaching skills could make a useful contribution.

Designing initiatives

Developing coaching projects around a particular community, cause or social need rather than simply offering generic coaching.

Partnerships and collaboration

Working alongside organisations and people who already understand the communities and issues involved.

Access and inclusion

Thinking about who can access coaching, what might prevent participation and how conventional coaching models may need to adapt.

Sustainable contribution

Finding ways to contribute without creating an approach that depends indefinitely on unpaid work or personal sacrifice.

Connecting purpose and practice

Deciding how social-impact work fits alongside commercial coaching and the wider career you want to build.
